Logical reasoning basically means taking a decision based on all the information and circumstances available. ICSI has divided the entire syllabus for this subject into three sections to make studying it easier and more systematic:

  • Logical reasoning

  • Verbal reasoning

  • Non-verbal reasoning

The detailed explanation of the above mentioned are given below:

1. Logical Reasoning

This section comprises further sub-chapters on calendars, clocks, coding and decoding, cause and effect reasoning, concluding passages, number tests, sequence and series, statements and assumptions.

If you look closely, you'll see that these are just the subjects that senior secondary school students learn. So if you understood concepts in these topics during your 12th-grade class, you can crack part 1 pretty easily. There are going to be a few more topics not in your class 12 syllabus.

It does not, however, mean that students are going to spend a lot of their time on this topic. Great chances are there that you could succeed in this topic even without major preparation due to the fact that so much of it is dependent upon the student's aptitude and awareness of the question.

2. Verbal Reasoning

Alphabet test, alpha numeric sequence puzzle, logical sequence test, logical Venn diagram, number, ranking and time sequence test, syllogism, truth tellers and liars, analogy, assertion and reason, blood relations, decision making, and inserting missing characters fall within this category.

3. Non Verbal Reasoning

  • The section includes the following:
  • Rule detection
  • Grouping identical figures
  • Figure matrix
  • Classification
  • Analytical reasoning
  • Rule detection
  • Mirror image
  • Alphabet series numerics

Students with a maths brain will hardly face any problem while getting marks in Part 1, which has partial mathematics.

Although most of the questions will be based on English, part 2 is quite rational. For that matter, part three is essentially a diagram-based section. Most of the questions will include figures that need to be observed before answering the questions in them.

From this overview of the subjects, one might assume that one needs to invest a lot of time and energy studying them, but in real life, they are rather easy to learn and are very broad in their topic range.

There is no need to lose even a single mark if all the topics are prepared with commitment and concentration. That also happens to be a scoring topic, so there's absolutely no need to fear exams because of it.
