Paper 2 Company Law & Practice

Paper on Company Law & Practice is divided into two parts:- Part I deals with Company Law-Principles & Concepts, Part II deals with Company Administration and Meetings.

Paper 3 Setting Up of Business, Industrial & Labour Laws

The main types of business entities in India include Sole Proprietorship, Partnership, Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) Business, Limited Liability Partnership (LLP), Co- operative Societies, various types of companies, Branch/ Liaison Office of foreign companies.

Paper 4 Corporate Accounting & Financial Management

In today’s business world accounting is considered as ‘the universal language of all business’, because it is the medium for reporting financial information about a business entity to users, such as shareholders, banks and managers.

Paper 5 Capital Market & Securities Laws

The securities markets are vital to the growth, development and strength of market economies and the maturity of an economy are decided based on the robustness of securities market of an economy. Considering that the Securities market is the core area of practice for the Company Secretaries.

Paper 6 Economic, Commercial & Intellectual Property Laws

Every legislation, especially in economic matters, is essentially empiric, and it is based on experimentation or what one may call the trial and error method. It may not provide for all possible situations or anticipate all possible abuses.

Paper 7 Tax Laws and Practice

This paper consists of two parts, namely Direct tax (Income Tax) and Indirect tax (GST and Customs). The tax that is levied directly on the income or wealth of a person is called Direct tax. Indirect taxes are the taxes levied on goods and services on the basis of production, sale or purchase of goods or provision of services in the form of import and export duty, excise, customs, entertainment tax, electricity duty, tax on passenger fares and freight etc. and now Goods & Services Tax levies on supply of goods and/or services.

CSEET (Company Secretary Executive Entrance Test)

The first step is clearing the CSEET, which is mandatory for all candidates who wish to enroll in the Executive Program. The CSEET evaluates the candidate's aptitude and knowledge across various subjects.

Executive Program

After passing the CSEET, candidates can register for the Executive Program. This stage consists of two modules covering various aspects of company law, tax laws, and economic and commercial laws.

Professional Program

Upon clearing the Executive Program, candidates progress to the Professional Program. This stage includes advanced studies in governance, risk management, compliance, and other related areas.

Pre-Examination Test

Before appearing for the main examination of both the Executive and Professional programs, candidates must clear a pre-examination test conducted by ICSI.

Practical Training

After passing the Professional Program, candidates must complete 21 months of practical training in a company or under a practicing company secretary.

Membership Registration

After successfully completing the training and clearing all stages of the CS course, candidates can apply for membership in the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) to become a certified Company Secretary.

A. Candidates who have completed BCom course can take direct admission to the CS Executive course. To get CS certification, such candidates have to pass Executive and Professional levels to get CS certification.
